Lauren Blackburn Lauren was hired by the Yukon Geological Survey (YGS) in early 2007 to assist on various projects from petrography to fieldwork to updating Yukon MINFILE. After four years of research work at the University of Alberta as an undergraduate student, Lauren worked in industry and in the summer of 2005 she was involved in fieldwork within the Committee Bay Greenstone belt in Nunavut and then completed her undergrad thesis work on the origin of the Tsu Lake Supracrustal package within the Talston Magmatic Shear zone, Northwest Territories. After completing her undergrad thesis, Lauren decided to move back up to the north, this time to the Yukon to learn about the younger Cordilleran rocks. Upon arriving in the Yukon Lauren worked for Aurora Geosciences Ltd. where she completed an array of jobs from staking, mapping, geophysical surveys to drill jobs. Currently, Lauren is teaching a geology course through the Yukon College and updating MINFILE. Lauren received her B.Sc. in Geology from the University of Alberta where her interests were global tectonics and Precambrian Geology.
