Karen S. Pelletier
B.Sc., M.Sc.

 

Karen graduated as a geologist at Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1984, and received her Master of Geology degree from Carleton University in 1988. Her background includes academic geological studies in the NWT (1979-1986) and mineral exploration in the Yukon and British Columbia (1988-1996). She has worked in the position of Environmental Geologist since 1996 during which time she participated in the implementation of Mining Land Use Regulations for the exploration and mining industry. Currently her responsibilities include administration of the Mining Environment Research Group (MERG), participation as a technical expert in the environmental assessment of exploration or mine related projects in the Yukon, participation in outreach programs which bring earth science topics into Yukon schools, and serving as a liaison between Mineral Resources and various stakeholder groups particularly in the area of PR for the mining industry in terms of their excellence in the reclamation field.
